The Atlas
As a series of massive storms spreads an unknown lethal virus across the globe, the world changes overnight. Within days nearly seventy percent of the world's population is gone. By day twelve, the last radio broadcast goes silent. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel. For reasons unknown, those on the high seas have managed to survive. Amongst fishing ships and naval vessels is the Atlas, the world's largest cruise ship that launched only days before the virus struck.

As an agent of the FBI’s Counterterrorism Division, Rick Harvard spends his time strapping on a Kevlar vest, hunting down terrorist threats, dodging the occasional bullet, and filling out the ensuing paperwork. So when he was put on a boat and told to “Protect the Senator and make sure the ship doesn’t blow up,” the last thing he thought he'd be dealing with was the end of the world and 6,000 terrified people who aren't sure why they're still alive.

Whale behaviorist, Dr. Daniel Cove, has spent most of the last decade on the water. He had some coworkers who thought he was obsessive and could get downright mean, and an ex-wife who left him for her yoga instructor in Maui. So the end of the world and being stuck on his research vessel in the Caribbean doesn't put much of a kink in his plans. Of all the places he doesn't want to be, on a ship larger than his old local airport, surrounded by thousands of people looking to him to save the day, would have been on the top of the list if he'd ever thought it would actually happen.
